Why Should I Study This Course?

This course has been designed to develop the student’s skills in double entry book-keeping and gives an insight of management and administrative processes. Candidates will learn how to use manual and computerized accounting systems (including how to work with the purchases), sales and general ledgers, basic costing principles and how to work effectively within accounting and finance.

This qualification is designed for students with no previous knowledge of accountancy or with basic bookkeeping skills. As assessments are computer based, a basic level of IT is necessary to succeed on the course.

Course Breakdown

The course consists of 5 mandatory units. Candidates must complete all units to achieve the qualification.

Mandatory units

• Processing bookkeeping transactions
• Control accounts, journals and the banking system
• Work effectively in accounting and finance
• Basic costing
• Computerized accounting

How is the Course Assessed?

Assessments are ongoing throughout the year. All assessments in this qualification will be Computer Based Assessments (CBAs). Some units are assessed using other computer administered methods, which can include projects, reports, portfolios and workplace evidence and are marked by your training provider or by AAT markers. The results for these will normally be available within 6 weeks.
