Learning Environment

Outwood Post 16 Centre is a purpose built sixth form college. The building is thirteen years old and benefits from specialist facilities for all subjects including a custom music technology suite with a recording studio, drama studio, art and technology rooms, and twelve IT suites. The building is on two floors and has a large open area for use during breaks and lunchtimes.

All classrooms have projectors and interactive whiteboards and teachers have access to up to date IT equipment to ensure that teaching is able to include the latest technology.

The Learning Resource Centre is on the first floor, housing a well-stocked library for students to borrow resources including books, journals and DVDs. Students are able to access many online resources on the nineteen desktop computers in the library. The Centre also has four quiet study rooms, two of which have a number of desktop computers for students’ use.

We have fully equipped science labs which give students the opportunity to try out experiments in the classroom environment.

Outwood Post 16 Centre also benefits from an indoor sports hall and students have access to the outdoor facilities offered by Outwood Academy Valley which includes two large open sports fields and the floodlit AstroTurf pitch.

Food is cooked on site and is available from the Centre Café which offers fresh cooked meals, jacket potatoes, warm baguettes, salads, pasta, smoothies and wraps.
