I was employed by Portland School in December 2007 working part time on reception. A year later I secured the role of 14–19 Curriculum Support Assistant. My job involved securing work placements with local companies for students in Year 11 and working closely with students on training programmes at local colleges.
I became Learning Manager at Outwood Post 16 Centre in September 2011, a role which can be very demanding at times but also very rewarding. I am the first point of contact for students with personal and emotional issues as well as supporting students with their A Level courses. This includes the implementation of intervention with students following Praising Stars© reports/attendance concerns and D Forms. I also support students with their UCAS applications offering advice and guidance when necessary. I also deal with all the 16-19 bursary applications, payments and queries.
