Welcome

At the Post 16 Centre, we understand that your application and the transition to Post 16 can feel like a hugely exciting but slightly daunting step on your career journey and we are here to support you with all the highs and occasional lows of that journey, instilling confidence that you can definitely do it.

Academic achievement is hugely important to our young people and we are delighted to offer an exciting and inspirational suite of 33 A level and level 3 BTEC qualifications. We are hugely proud of our Ofsted inspection outcome of Outstanding in every category and the quote ‘Students make outstanding progress in the sixth form in all subjects’. Indeed between 8 and 15 of our students apply to Oxbridge each year and many also go on to study at the higher tariff universities.

As a dedicated team, we care about our young people, with our first priority always being to make sure they are happy and safe, so that they are able to enjoy their learning and perform at their best. Each year group has a Learning Manager, who is a non-teaching member of staff dedicated solely to the pastoral care and well-being of students who acts as the first point of contact for parents/carers and students regarding well-being, progress and attainment.

We continually strive to provide an inclusive, enabling and encouraging environment which empowers each individual student to try their very best to achieve their potential. We welcome applications  from Outwood Academies and from external applicants,  with a large number of students joining us each year from our surrounding area.

Every student will be allocated to a tutor group and a dedicated member of the teaching staff will support the group and the individuals within that group with their academic, extra-curricular and career progression goals and ambitions.

We are very passionate about providing the best learning opportunities and experiences for all our students, irrespective of their strengths, challenges or needs. Our fantastic and very talented teachers set high standards and expectations and deliver an outstanding academic curriculum which engages and enables high achievement.

Our entire team of staff at the Post 16 Centre are passionate about helping  and supporting students to discover their talents and prepare them for their future and it is very important to us that in addition to high academic achievement,  students leave us with the ability to think deeply, act with kindness and integrity and take responsibility for a rich life ahead.
